A BOARD game has been created by a university graduate to help people recover from substance misuse.
Inspirado is designed to be used in group therapy and rehab sessions.
Players begin as a caterpillar, hoping to finish as a butterfly, passing series of alert tiles on the way where they play through behaviour cards and inspirational cards.
The game was developed by Sunderland University graduate Joojo Kyei-Sarpong, who dedicated his career to supporting those living with addiction, after losing a friend through a drug overdose.
The 35-year-old has now launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise £5,000 for the game to be manufactured.
He said: “My approach to coaching has always been illustrative and compassionate, using everyday examples to help clients understand behaviour change.
“This motivated me to create the game as an intervention, with the potential to be a resource for substance misuse treatment”.
