A MAN hit a woman in the street and then put her in a car, according to police.

Police are appealing for the public’s help after receiving a report of concern for a woman in Tynemouth.

"Last night, at 11.40pm, concern was raised for a woman in Percy Park Road," said a spokeswoman for Northumbria Police.

"The woman had been walking in the street with a man who hit her causing her to fall to the ground. She was then put in a car that had stopped to give the couple a lift.

"Officers believe the incident is domestic related and want to ensure the woman is ok and are keen to trace those involved.

"The vehicle has been described as a ‘souped up boy racer’ blue VW Lupo."
