A SEVEN-year-old child remains in critical condition after being hit by a car which ploughed into a crowd of people in Newcastle.
Six people were injured in the incident, which happened outside Westgate Sports Centre at 9.15am on Sunday as people were leaving an event to celebrate Eid.
A 42-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving has been released on bail pending further investigation.
A child and two adults have now been released from hospital while another child and adult are said to be stable, with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Last night a seven-year-old was in paediatric intensive care in critical condition.
