A MAN has been arrested after a “quantity of chemicals” were found at a house in the North-East.
Bomb disposal experts were called Heaton Park View in the Heaton area of Newcastle following reports of suspicious behaviour on Thursday morning.
Police said the 42-year-old remains in police custody and the house is being searched by specialist officers.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “On Thursday morning police carried out a search of an address on Heaton Park View in the Heaton area of Newcastle following reports of suspicious behaviour.
“Officers attended the address and found a quantity of chemicals. A 42-year-old local man was arrested and remains in police custody.
“Police remain in the area to carry out enquiries and provide reassurance to anyone with concerns.
“Specialist officers are continuing to search the address which is likely to last for a number of hours.”
