THE first key holiday period has been hailed a success following the reopening of a renamed North-East visitor attraction.
Jarrow Hall Anglo-Saxon Farm, Village and Bede Museum is the new title for what was previously simply known as Bede’s World, in Jarrow, South Tyneside.
The site has been given a new look, under the new management of environmental charity Groundwork South Tyneside and Newcastle.
Almost 2,500 visitors from across the North-East descended on the hall during the Easter school holiday period to discover the newly restored farmstead, village and museum which harks back to the Anglo-Saxon era,.
It took its previous name from the early Christian scholar, The Venerable Bede, who was among the inhabitants of the monastery at nearby St Paul’s Church.
