A MAN has told police he cannot remember how he came to be the victim of a suspected assault.
Police are appealing for information after the incident in Gateshead.
"On Wednesday, March 29, police received a report from a man who was injured on Shipcoate Lane near to the roundabout with Alexandra Road the previous evening," said a Northumbria Police spokeswoman.
"The 44-year-old man attended hospital for treatment to minor facial injuries however he could not remember what happened.
"It is believed he may have been assaulted and police believe the incident occurred at some point between 6.20pm and 6.45pm on Wednesday, March 30.
"Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have seen how the man was injured to get in touch with officers."
