ORGANISERS of the region’s largest ever inner city festival have confirmed the final wave of bands.

More than 100 musical artists are set to descend on Newcastle venues this April with North-East new wave band Vant, as well as Scottish rockers, Father Son, the latest headlining names added to the bill.

Hit the North, on April 28, also features Tiger Club, Muncie Girls and Brighton’s Get Inuit on a line-up which already boasts the likes of some of the UK’s finest emerging artists including Slaves and Nothing But Thieves.

The event is preceded by the warm up pre-party Meet The North the day before, with 32 bands taking to stages across the city.

One of Newcastle’s most successful indie-pop outfits, Little Comets, will headline the event at the Quayside’s Riverside venue.

Steve Davis, of SSD Concerts, said: “We’ve got so much talent coming out of Newcastle and the surrounding areas right now with new amazing bands popping up every week.”
