TWO men have been arrested after a rooftop incident in Newcastle on Sunday.
Officers received a report at 6.15pm that the man was on the roof of a building in Westgate Road.
A cordon was put in place encompassing:
- Ellesmere Road and Middleton Avenue
- East end of West Road
- Farndale Road
- Strathmore Road West Road and Canning Street Temple Street
Access from the roads was blocked to allow police to deal with the incident safely and police were advising members of the public who turned up at the scene to leave.
Officers spoke with the man in order to bring him down from the roof.
At 8.30pm a Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "Incident in Westgate Road has been brought to a safe conclusion. Two males have been arrested.
"Extra officers will remain in the area to offer reasssurance to local residents."
