THE North-East has escaped freezing fog that covered southern England causing travel chaos to air passengers today.
The Met Office said that overnight fog may cause fresh delays, after thousands of would-be fliers faced disruption, with new “severe” warning covering all of England, except for this region.
Today around 100 flights were cancelled at Heathrow, while there was also disruption at Gatwick, London City, Stansted and Southampton airports.
As the rest of the country experienced dense patches of fog the region enjoyed bright sunshine, with this spectacular sunset captured by prize-winning photographer Paul Kingston, of North News this evening.
