LORD Nicholas Stern will discuss the economics of climate change as guest speaker at the fourth Newcastle Jubilee Development Lecture, on Thursday February 2.
The chair of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment will look back at the progress made in the last decade since his report, the Stern Review, into the economics of climate change.
His talk, in the Curtis Auditorium, at Newcastle University’s Herschel Building, at 5.30pm, will be followed by a panel discussion, Christian Responses to Climate Change, chaired by the Bishop of Berwick, the Right Reverend Mark Tanner, from 7.30 to 9pm.
Other panel members will be Professor Bob White, director of the Faraday Institute at St Edmunds College, at Cambridge University, Maria Elena Arana, national campaign co-ordinator of Roman Catholic international aid charity Cafod, and Jo Herbert, a young activist from Tearfund.
- All are welcome, with no booking required, but members of the public are advised to arrive early to ensure getting a seat in the auditorium.
