Highways England is installing a new footbridge across the A1 in Gateshead
A FOOTBRIDGE over the A1 in Gateshead is being replaced by Highways England.
The North Dene footbridge will be replaced with a new steel structure at the end of February.
The existing concrete bridge will be removed using two cranes on Saturday, January 21.
The new structure will be lifted into place on Saturday, February 11.
The work is weather dependent and will be carried out between 8pm and 6pm under a full closure of the A1.
