A NORTH-EAST adventurer is about to reach home after becoming the youngest person to circumnavigate the world by motorcycle, solo and unsupported.

Kane Avellano has travelled over 32,000 miles in just under eight months, covering 35 different countries in six continents.

The 23-year-old, from South Shields, South Tyneside, said: “The past eight months have been the most exciting in my life. I had the chance to discover what the world really has to offer, to meet many different people along the way and explore their cultures, religions and behaviours, while having an incredible time.”

Kane has faced many dangers, including torrential Monsoons in India, blistering desert rides in Australia, powerful storms in South America and freezing weather in Europe.

But he said: “Every moment has been worth it. I faced each challenge with excitement, not knowing how I would overcome it or who would help me.”

While travelling, the biker has been raising money for the charity Unicef. To donate, go to www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bonnietour

Kane will arrive back into South Shields tomorrow, where he will be greeted by friends, family and the Mayor of South Tyneside.
