POLICE are investigating after a gang of men armed with bats, metal bars and knives attacked a man and damaged a North-East pub.
A 30-year-old man injured during the attack is currently in hospital receiving treatment to a stab wound and a fractured skull.
Several windows at The Foss Hotel in Walker, Newcastle, were broken during the incident at 4.20pm on Thursday, December 8.
Police believe a group of men, thought to be around eight or nine, drove to the pub in a white Vauxhall Vivaro van and got out and attacked a man who was standing outside of the premises.
The men then got back into the van and fled the scene.
A gold coloured Range Rover was also seen following the van.
Both vehicles were later found nearby abandoned having been involved in a collision.
A woman who was also standing outside of the pub was also injured during the incident and attended hospital for treatment. She has since been released.
Police believe that those involved in the incident are all known to each other and enquiries are ongoing.
