A CHARITY is hoping to give a poorly North-East toddler a dream Christmas present this year.

Three-year-old Grace Frazer has had two brain tumours and has been constantly in and out of hospital for treatment.

The Newcastle youngster is one of 12 selected by children’s charity Dreams Come True for its Christmas appeal.

The charity aims to raise enough money to make her dream of going to Disney World come true.

Her mother, Fiona, said: “Grace is such a special little girl and she hasn’t been able to have much of a childhood so far.

“Going to Disney World as a family would be amazing as she will soon be turning four years old, which means she will be starting to remember things.

“Meeting Mickey and Minnie would be one of her first memories.

“We hope we will be able talk about it together and she can share the experience with her friends too.”

Grace was diagnosed with a brain tumour two years ago, in December 2014, and a further brain tumour in November last year.

In her short life, little Grace has already been through more than most adults.

She has spent a great deal of time in hospital and her treatment has hindered her development.

Now she is attending nursery to catch up before she starts mainstream school in September next year.

Her mum has said she has said she would love to meet all her favourite characters like Cinderella and the Disney Princesses, but most of all she would love to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Mrs Frazer added: “If we are able to have her dream fulfilled it will be the best thing ever.

“It would be wonderful to have something good come from something so bad.”

Over the last 25 years Dreams Come True has helped more than 5,000 children, as well as their families and carers.

Chief executive Peter Newman has urged people to support their appeal to help.

He said: “For Grace and her family, an experience such as a trip to Disney World will allow Grace to simply enjoy her childhood.

“What a wonderful first memory it would be to have met all her favourite Disney characters.

“It is something the whole family can cherish and remember for a lifetime.

“Having a dream come true is very powerful, for both the child and their family, so we need your help to fulfil dreams like Grace’s.”
