Police accident.
EMERGENCY services have been dealing with a vehicle involving eight vehicles on the A1 near the Angel of the North, in Gateshead.
One lane was closed on the southbound carriageway for around an hour.
Police and paramedics attended the scene of the crash, but it is not believed anyone was seriously injured.
The collision is continuing to have knock-on effects to traffic on surrounding routes.
