A WALKER was flown to a North-East hospital by helicopter after falling hundreds of feet down a fell in the Lake District.
The 65-year-old man suffered a suspected broken wrist, as well as cuts and bruises, following the incident in the Wasdale area at teatime on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to the incident and a Coastguard Rescue Helicopter was scrambled from Caernarfon, Wales.
It took the man to the RVI in Newcastle, landing at around 5.45pm.
Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade were called to help out with the incident at the hospital.
Captain Peter Lilley said: “The casualty, who was thought to have fallen a distance of between 300 and 400ft but miraculously had sustained only minor injuries.”
