A POLICE officer has made a £100 donation to charity after she was shown on a reality TV show using her mobile phone while driving.
The officer was not on the public road but had driven on to an area of Northumbria Police's Etal Lane base in Newcastle when she made a personal call following a successful job.
Viewers of ITV's Car Wars show, which features Northumbria Police officers in action against criminals on the road, complained to the force about her using her mobile behind the wheel.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "While this was in an area with no public access, we do not allow the use of phones while driving.
"We have spoken to the officer involved in the programme and given her words of advice.
"The officer has made a contribution to Brake road safety charity for the amount of a fixed penalty notice."
