TRAINS have been delayed by up to two hours after a person was struck on the East Coast Mainline between Newcastle and Berwick this morning (Wednesday, May 25).
The incident happened at around 11.15am and trains are suspended between Berwick and Newcastle until around 1.15pm Virgin Trains posted on Twitter: “Due to a person hit by a train between Berwick upon Tweed and Newcastle, all lines are blocked.”
According to traffic and travel service Inrix, trains are suspended between the two stations and disruption is expected to continue until at least 1.15pm.
