A MAN suffered multiple injuries after falling 16ft onto a seaside promenade.
The incident happened on Sunday night in Whitley Bay.
Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade (TVLB) were called out to help North East Ambulance Service paramedics after the man fell from the road onto the promenade outside the 42nd Street bar.
A TVLB spokesman said: "Members arrived on scene to find that the man had landed on a section of the promenade which is currently closed for reconstruction and had sustained multiple injuries.
"He had received quick attention from paramedics and officers from Northumbria Police and was placed on a stretcher and taken to a nearby ambulance.
"The Brigade was stood down at 1.30am."
