A DRIVER has been charged over a fatal car crash on the A1 earlier this year.
Ryan Mark Charlton died in the early hours of Sunday, April 19 when his car overturned near the Angel of the North.
The 23-year-old, from the Low Fell area of Gateshead, was a well-known car enthusiast, known as Curly to his friends.
Mohammed Abdul-Wahid, 31, of Cambridge Road in Middlesbrough, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at an accident in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear before Gateshead Magistrates' Court on October 29.
