A POLICE car on a routine patrol has been in collision with another car in Sunderland.
Northumbria Police is appealing for witnesses after the collision at 5.17pm on Thursday (August 27) outside Sainsbury's store southbound exit on Riverside Road.
It involved a police vehicle on routine patrol at the time and a Toyota Corolla.
Two people, a man driving the car and a woman passenger who were in the Toyota have what is believed to be minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. The police officers were not injured.
A road closure was put in place on Riverside Road from the Sainsbury's junction to Castletown Way while the scene was investigated and vehicles removed.
Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number 814 27/08/15.
