A SHOP worker suffered cuts to his face after being attacked with a knife when he challenged a customer's suspicious behaviour.
The incident took place just before 9.45pm last night, at the Drinks Express store on Coach Road in Wallsend, North Tyneside.
The attacker fled the scene, and the staff member was taken by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment.
His injuries are not believed to be serious.
Police arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm. He is currently detained in custody.
