A ROBBER wearing an Ali G mask has raided a filling station.

Police say that at around midnight last night, a man wearing a mask and red skull cap went into the BP petrol station in the Pennywell area of Sunderland and demanded staff hand over cash from the till.

A cashier handed over a small amount of cash before the offender fled on foot towards the A19.

The staff member was not injured, but was left shaken and distressed.

The offender is described as white, of medium build and short, with shaven blond hair.

He was wearing a black bomber jacket, blue top and blue jeans.

Police say extra patrols will be in the area to carry out enquiries.
