A CHARITY that delivers blood to the region’s hospitals by motorbike has been given a £25,000 boost.
Northumbria Blood Bikes, which works across County Durham, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland, has been awarded £25,000 from the Aviva Community Fund.
From its foundation in 2013 with two ageing motorbikes, the charity has grown to 260 volunteers, delivering blood and blood products to hospitals and the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
It won the Aviva money through a public vote.
Fundraising co-ordinator Graham Moor thanked everyone who had supported the bid.
