POLICE are appealing for information to trace a missing hospital patient.
Robert Newton left St Nicholas Hospital, in Gosforth, on his daily unescorted leave on Thursday.
The 36-year-old was due to go back to the hospital the same day at about 5pm. However, he failed to return and was reported missing.
Mr Newton is described as mixed race, 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build, with brown shoulder length dreadlocked hair. When last seen he was wearing pale blue jeans, a beige jacket and brown shoes.
Police are carrying out enquiries to trace Robert and are keen to speak to anyone who knows of his whereabouts or who may have seen him.
