DETECTIVES investigating the death of Tipu Sultan have charged two men with murder.
Michael McDougal, 47, of Hylton Avenue in South Shields and Michael Stephen Mullen, 24, of Hawthorne Avenue in South Shields were remanded in custody to appear at South Tyneside Magistrates Court today.
The two women also arrested in connection with the incident have been released one with no further action being taken.
32-year-old Mr Sultan was approached by a man armed with a gun just before 10pm on Tuesday, April 7, and shot from close range at the rear of the Herbs n Spice Kitchen takeaway in Lake Avenue, South Shields, South Tyneside.
Two men on a motorbike were seen driving into a rear lane just before and leaving just after the shooting.
Officers believe that these two men were responsible for the murder of Mr Sultan and enquiries are underway to identify and find them.
