MOTORISTS are being warned of delays after a man climbed the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle, apparently for a peaceful protest.
Northumbria Police were informed that a man was on the bridge at 7.45am this morning.
A spokesperson said: "Officers are currently in the area speaking to the man.
"The bridge remains open, however, motorists are advised there may be delays while the incident is dealt with.
"Initial enquiries suggest the man intends to hold a peaceful protest on the bridge."
