ORGANISERS say a second pride festival will be bigger and better than last year’s inaugural event.

Durham Pride will take place in the city on Sunday (May 31), with live music around Millennium Place compered by the ‘Queen of Durham’ Tess Tickle, stalls and an after-show party at Loveshack nightclub.

There will also be a first Pride parade, leaving Palace Green at 1pm and reaching Millennium Place for 1.30pm.

Executive director Jamie Lawson said: “We have been working hard to ensure that this year’s Pride builds on what we achieved last year.

“We’re putting Durham on the map as a place to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and its history.”
