A NORTH-EAST man will appear in court today charged with terrorism offences.

Anti-terrorism officers confirmed this morning that a 32-year-old man from has been charged with offences related to disseminating publications.

Mohammed Abdal Miah was arrested on Monday by Northumbria Police on behalf of the North East Counter Terrorism Unit.

Miah is charged with four offences under Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006, dissemination of terrorist publications.

A spokesman for the unit said: "This investigation was intelligence-led and there is no evidence to suggest that any communities are at immediate risk in connection with this operation."

Miah will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London later today.
