POLICE are appealing for witnesses to “a suspicious incident” after a Range Rover forced a dark blue people carrier to pull over in Sunderland.

The Range Rover was driving along the A1018 Ryhope Road when it stopped the other vehicle by Backhouse Park at 8.20pm on Saturday.

Several men got out and walked across to the people carrier.

Witnesses believe the men from the Range Rover may have been involved in some sort of altercation with occupants of the people carrier.

Both vehicles then drove off, the Range Rover “at speed”.

The occupants of the people carrier are urged to contact Northumbria Police about the incident and officers are keen to speak to anyone else in the area at the time who saw what took place.

They should contact police on 101, extension 69191, quoting log number 1140, of 02/05/15, or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on (0800) 555111.
