POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was raped when she was accosted while walking through a small North-East town.
The 24-year-old victim was approached by a man on Adderland Road, Prudhoe, Northumberland, early today (Sunday April 12).
It is believed the rape then took place in a rear alley, between Holyoake Street and Neale Street, at about 5am.
The offender is described as being white, in his early 30s, approximately 5ft 11ins, and of broad build.
He was wearing a mid-blue hooded top and was said to be wearing the hood up at the time of the incident.
Inquiries are said to be continuing into the incident and extra officers are carrying out patrols in the area and speaking to local residents.
Specialist officers are said to be supporting the victim.
