POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a city centre assault on revellers leaving a night spot.
The incident was said to have taken place as the two men were heading from Ohso nightclub, in the Groat Market, Newcastle, shortly before 3am today (Sunday, April 12).
The 19-year-olds were both attacked from behind by an unknown offender.
One of the pair was struck on the face with what is believed to be a bottle, causing a gash to his face.
During the incident the victim’s watch was also stolen.
The second man suffered bruising to his face during the incident.
Both men attended Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary but were released later following treatment.
The offenders are described as being in a group of black men.
Police are appealing for information from anyone in the area and who may have seen or heard the incident.
