TWO girls aged ten and 11 were taken to hospital after they were involved in a collision with a blue MGZR on Rosalie Terrace, Sunderland, at 4pm today.
The ten-year-old remains in hospital tonight with serious but not life threatening injuries. The 11-year-old was treated for minor injuries.
Two men, aged 28 and 29, were arrested in connection with the collision, which happened near to the junction with Mainsforth Terrace West. They are currently in police custody
A section of the road was closed for around two hours thirty minutes to allow for collision investigation to be carried out.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, especially anyone who might have seen a blue car and a silver car driving erratically in the area around the time of the incident, to contact them on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number 719 03/04/15.
