A 14-YEAR-OLD girl was sexually assaulted as she walked in Newcastle early one morning.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident in Newcastle.
"It happened on Monday, March 16, at 7.55am. The teenager was walking along Eastfield Avenue in Walker when a man followed her a short distance on foot and then touched her inappropriately over her clothing before making off. The incident was reported to police," said a Northumbria Police spokesman.
"The girl was shocked and upset by the incident. Enquiries are ongoing into this matter and officers are appealing for information."
The offender is described as a man wearing a black coat with the hood pulled up.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Matt Bruno said: "We have additional officers in the area carrying out enquiries and to reassure local people. We'd ask for anyone with information to contact police."
