A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested after another teenager was cut during an assault in Sunderland.

At just before 6.15pm tonight police received a report from the ambulance service of an assault on Palgrave Road.

"Officers attended the scene where an 18-year-old man was suffering from a cut to his side. He was taken to the RVI for treatment where he remains. His injury is not believed to be life threatening," said a spokeswoman for Northumbria Police.

"Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit GBH. He is currently helping police with enquiries."

Officers investigating the incident are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information.
