A MAN was beaten about the head with a baseball bat in an incident that saw three others arrested.
Police are appealing for information following the assault in Gateshead.
"At just after 4.25pm, on Monday, March 16, police received a report of a disturbance at an address on Windsor Avenue," said a spokeswoman for Northumbria Police.
"Officers attended the scene where a 32-year-old man was found suffering from a head injury believed to have been caused by a baseball bat. He was taken by ambulance to the QE Hospital for treatment where he remains.
"A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. A 24-year-old man and 20-year-old woman have also been arrested on suspicion of affray. All three are helping police with enquiries."
Investigations into the assault are continuing and police are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information.
"Officers will be in the area carrying out house to house enquiries and to provide reassurance. Anyone with concerns or information should talk to them," the spokeswoman added.
