POLICE are appealing for information after a taxi driver was robbed by a group of three passengers.
The thieves grabbed a money bag from the driver as they were about to get out of the taxi, in the Hendon area of Sunderland, in the early hours of Monday (February 23).
All three then escaped on foot from the scene, in Cairo Street, heading down an alley on Long Street towards Corporation Road, at 1.45am.
They are described as in their 30s, and were said to be dressed in a mixture light and dark clothing.
Police said the taxi driver, a man in his 50s, was not injured in the incident.
Officers are carrying out inquiries and appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.
