RUGBY union and rugby league have united to launch one of Europe’s biggest charity fun runs.
Stars from Newcastle Falcons and Newcastle Thunder came together today (Monday, February 23) to launch the 2015 Children’s Cancer Run.
The event, now in its 33rd year, will take place at Newcastle Racecourse in Gosforth Park on May 17, with all proceeds going to the North of England Children’s Cancer Research.
Organisers hope to top the £165,000 raised at last year’s run.
Newcastle Falcons and former Scottish International Mike Blair said: “It is an event that makes a real difference to the lives of so many people, not only in Newcastle and the North East but beyond.
“Without the vital funds raised through the run the current level of cancer research could not be undertaken”.
The Children’s Cancer Run, sponsored by Greggs, will include a five-mile cross country run, a three-mile run and a one-mile event for under sevens.
Entry is £12, or £6 for under sevens, and places can be booked via www.childrenscancerrun.co.uk
