A 44-year-old man appeared at court today (Wednesday, December 17) for stealing more than £100 worth of Duracell batteries.
Stuart Butler was caught when he returned back to B&M Bargains in Ferryhill and was spotted by a shop worker.
Butler, of Park Place East, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to two charges of theft on Wednesday, October 8, and Wednesday, November 5, totalling £152.
District Judge Martin Walker gave Butler a community order with supervision for one year. He was also ordered to pay £152 compensation to B&M Bargains.
