The average house price in Rutland Drive in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, has now reached an eye-watering £1.152m, according to research by Lloyds Bank, which has compiled a list of the priciest addresses in England and Wales.

It makes the street the most expensive in Yorkshire and is followed by Park Edge in Harrogate and College Farm Lane in Wetherby, where average house prices also top the £1m mark; at £1.078m and £1.012m respectively.

Last year an apartment overlooking the West Stray in Harrogate became North Yorkshire’s most expensive apartment ever sold, selling for in excess of £1m.

Andy Hulme, mortgages director at Lloyds Bank, said: "Rutland Drive in Harrogate takes the title as the most expensive residential street in Yorkshire and the Humber. The region's golden triangle between Harrogate, north Leeds and Wetherby is a well known hotspot for those who aspire to have it all, and boasts eight of the ten most expensive streets.

"The remaining two streets are both in Ilkley. All of these areas have outstanding homes, excellent schools, good shopping facilities and are close to the countryside."

In the North-East, the Newcastle and Northumberland area have seven of the ten most expensive streets in the North-East, with areas such as Gosforth and Ponteland making the list.

Runneymede Road in Ponteland is the most expensive with an average price of £1.154m, followed by Graham Park Road (£1,091,000), Elmfield Road (£1.056m) and Ash Meadows in Washington (£852,000).

The top 50 most expensive streets in England and Wales are all situated in London and the South-East.

Grosvenor Crescent, situated in the Westminster area of London, is officially the most expensive residential street in England and Wales. To acquire a typical Grade II listed house on Grosvenor Crescent will cost an average of £16.9m.
