YOUNGSTERS from across the region met some of the country's top children's authors and illustrators at the Northern Children's Book Festival Gala Day.
The event included sessions with Changeling series author Steve Feasey, author and illustrator Rob Lewis, award-winning fiction writer Melvyn Burgess, Guy Bass, and performance poet and comedian John Hegley.
Saturday's (November 22) Gala Day - split between Sunderland's city library and Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens - was the culmination of the two week festival with authors and illustrators visiting schools and libraries across the North-East to share their passion for books.
