POLICE have named the man whose body was found in undergrowth in Newcastle.

He has been identified as 49-year-old Peter Martin Hedley, of Burdon Terrace, Bedlington.

Clare Louise Humble, 50, of Burdon Terrace in Bedlington has been charged with murder and will appear before Bedlington Magistrates' Court tomorrow (Monday) morning.

Lee Nicholson, 39, of Lydford Court in Newcastle has been charged with perverting the course of justice and will also appear before Bedlington Magistrates' Court tomorrow (Monday).

At 11.30am on Friday, November 7, police were informed a body had been found at Newburn Riverside Park in Newcastle. 

Extra officers remain in the area to offer reassurance and answer any concerns the local community may have.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Barron said: "Information has come to light that has led to this death now being treated as a murder enquiry and two people have been arrested.

"I would urge anyone who may have seen anything out of the ordinary or suspicious in Newburn Riverside Park over the past few days to contact police, it may be they have have information that can help with our enquiries.

"We recognise that this may be concerning for the local community and extra officers will be in the area to offer reassurance and answer their concerns."
