POLICE investigating a collision in Jarrow in which an elderly woman died are continuing to appeal for witnesses.
At around 1.40pm on Tuesday, November 4, officers attended the scene on Jarrow Road where two vehicles had collided.
Norma Hall, 84, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries into the collision and are asking any witnesses to come forward. In particular any dog walkers who were in the area at the time of the collision, or anyone who may have seen a red three-door Fiat Punto Grande driving from South Shields to North Shields and back to South Shields between 12.45pm and the time of the collision.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and released on police bail.
