A YOUNG girl escaped injury when she was struck by a car on a pedestrian crossing.

Now police are urging the driver to call them because he did not pass on his details, as the law requires.

The incident happened around 4.15pm on Friday, October 17, when the 12-year-old was crossing the zebra crossing on Chester Road, Sunderland, near to the junction with Grindon Lane in the city centre.

A red Jeep-type vehicle hit the girl, causing her to fall to the ground.

She was not injured and did not require any medical treatment.

The driver stopped and asked the girl if she was all right but left without giving any details.
