POLICE are hunting for a rapist who attacked a teenager in an area of woodland.

The 18-year-old victim told police she was raped in a location in Keelman’s Lane, off St Luke’s Road, in Pallion, Sunderland.

The incident happened between 11.30pm and midnight in an area of woodland in Keelman’s Lane, just off St Luke’s Road, Pallion, Sunderland, Saturday.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “The offender is described as being white, around 5ft 4ins tall and aged between 18 to 25.

“Inquiries are ongoing into the incident and police are appealing for the public's help.

“Officers want to speak to anyone who was in the area of Keelman's Lane or St Luke's Road around the time of the offence.

“They specifically want to trace three potential witnesses who they believe were in the area and who may have information.”

Police want to speak to a man who was walking in Keelman's Lane with two dogs around 11.30pm.

They also want to speak to two men who spoke to a couple walking along Hilton Road at around 10.30pm.

The spokesman added: “Extra officers are in the area carrying out enquiries and providing reassurance to the local community.

“Specially trained officers are working with the victim to make sure she has the support she needs."
