RUN Geordie Run is at it again – planning his next gruelling challenge for 2016.

Ultra runner Mark Allison ran 3,100 miles across the USA in 2011 and 2,383 miles across Australia in 2013 and has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity.

When he arrived home from Australia, Mr Allison said he nearly went mad during the challenge, which he abandoned briefly before changing his mind and finally reaching the Pacific Coast on January 5.

But he is now planning another run for summer 2016.

Writing on his blog, he said he was finally coming to terms with the trauma of the Australian run and was missing the challenge of running 40-odd miles day after day.

He plans to announce details of his next run later this month and said he was very excited about it, although he would need to lose weight.

“Unfortunately, I’ve spent the last nine months eating bacon sandwiches, chocolate and drinking the odd beer here and there,” he wrote.

The charities to benefit will be the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and The Children’s Foundation and Mr Allison, from Blyth, Northumberland, hopes to raise £50,000.
