A MAN has been arrested following an arson attack on a North-East flat.
Police were called to Buxton Close in Jarrow at 4.45pm, on Tuesday, where the first floor flat was found on fire but no-one was inside the property.
As a result of enquiries, a 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and will be helping police with ongoing enquiries.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Investigations are continuing and police are keen to speak to anyone with information.
“Anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen someone arriving at, or leaving the flat, or noticed anything suspicious should come forward.”
