POLICE are appealing for information following a robbery at a North-East store.

The raid happened at Shah Stores, in Fordland Place, Sunderland, between 4.20pm and 4.25pm, yesterday (Sunday, August 10).

A police spokesman said: “Two men were seen hanging around the store for around ten minutes before one went inside.

“He approached the counter demanding cash, saying he was carrying a knife.

“The staff member handed over the cash before the man made off from the scene in the direction of Hylton Road and Ford Estate.

“The member of staff was shaken but unharmed as a result of the incident.”

The first suspect is described as being about 5ft 10ins tall and of average build.

He was wearing a black jacket with the hood up which was also covering his face and grey jogging bottoms.

The second man he was in company with before the robbery was wearing a yellow, blue and red jacket.
