AN INQUEST will open into the deaths of elderly couple tomorrow (Wednesday, April 15) after a post-mortem into their deaths proved inconclusive.
Ken and Edna Fisher were discovered by a carer at the bungalow they shared at Biddick Villas, in Columbia, Washington, on Wearside, at around 10.30am on Friday.
Officers from Northumbria Police said have there was no third party involvement.
Sunderland Coroner's Office has confirmed the results of a post-mortem examination on both bodies were inconclusive.
Further tests will now need to be carried out to determine how the couple died before the coroner can return a finding.
Mr Fisher and his wife, aged 76 and 74 respectively, had lived at the Washington bungalow for 38 years.
Some neighbours said Mrs Fisher had suffered from ill health in recent years and that they believed Mr Fisher, who looked after her with the help of a carer, had experienced problems with depression.
Mrs Fisher, who worked at a family planning clinic until her retirement.
The inquest will be opened an adjourned at the Sunderland Coroner's Court.
