FIREFIGHTERS have been dealing with a blaze in a disused farm outbuilding containing bales of hay.
A spokesperson for the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said the alarm was raised about the fire at Pontop Hall Farm, Dipton, at about 7pm.
She said: "Two appliances from Consett were dispatched to a disused detached farm building containing about 20 hay bales.
"The fire was contained inside the building. There was quite a lot of smoke coming off the fire.
"Fire crews will remain at the scene damping it down."
